Royal Caribbean Fort Lauderdale Cruise Tips

When are the best deals on Royal Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale?

If you are looking to save money on a Royal Caribbean Cruise from Fort Lauderdale, the lowest prices are usually available in October thru November. Check out our Royal Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale Sailing Calendar to see for yourself.

Where Can I Park My Car at the Port of Fort Lauderdale on Royal Caribbean

Be prepared to pay $20 a day to park in one of 3 covered garages that are next to the cruise ship terminal. You will pay upfront (cash, major credit card or US traveler's check only) – not when you leave. (verified August 2010)

There are several offsite parking lots with shuttles to the Fort Lauderdale port – the savings can be significant. If you are arriving by car the night before your cruise, several of the hotels in the area may let you leave your car in their lot while you cruise. However, you will need to stay at least one night before your cruise – look for "Park 'n Stay" rates advertised by the hotel. These hotels usually have a shuttle to take you to and from the cruise port. (verified April 2010)

When does my flight need to arrive in Fort Lauderdale for my Royal Caribbean cruise?

If you are flying in to Ft. Lauderdale Airport (FLL) on the day of your cruise make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the ship. Royal Caribbean recommends arriving in to FLL by 1:30 PM at the latest on the day of embarkation. After your cruise, your flight should not leave before 11:30 AM from FLL. (verified September 2010)

What Royal Caribbean ships are based in Fort Lauderdale?

What Royal Caribbean ships are based in Fort Lauderdale? The Royal Caribbean cruise ships that sail from Fort Lauderdale are the Grandeur of the Seas, the Navigator of the Seas, the Allure of the Seas,  the Oasis of the Seas, the Jewel of the Seas, and the Liberty of the Seas. The Oasis of the Seas is the newer ship and sails to the Eastern and Western Caribbean for cruises predominantly 7 nights long. Her sister ship, the Allure of the Seas, will be sailing from Fort Lauderdale beginning in December of 2010 on 7 night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. The Oasis Class ships, the Allure of the Seas and the Oasis of the Seas, are the newest to the line and currently hold the record for being the largest cruise ships in the world. As such, expect their prices to be a bit higher than other Royal Caribbean 7 night cruises with similar itineraries. The Jewel of the Seas offers Caribbean and Panama cruises which are 10 and 11 nights long. The Navigator of the Seas and the Jewel of the Seas offer Transatlantic cruises which depart from Fort Lauderdale.

What time can I board my Royal Caribbean cruise out of Fort Lauderdale?

Usually, 12:30PM is when most ships allow you to board. Check your boarding documents after you complete online check-in for specific boarding times -- they may change. However, if you are one of the first people onboard the ship, your room may not be ready. While you may be allowed to check-in at the port earlier, you may also have to wait in a large waiting area -- not always the most comfortable place. Just make certain you are onboard the ship at least 90 minutes prior to departure. Otherwise, you may be denied boarding.(verified December 2009)

How much does it cost to take a taxi from Fort Lauderdale International Airport to Royal Caribbean's cruise terminal in Fort Lauderdale?

Don't get ripped off – the cab driver should charge you less than $20.00 each way from Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) to Royal Caribbean's Fort Lauderdale cruise terminal. Yes, the cruise lines offer bus transfers, but for two people, a cab is a cheaper, more efficient option (and you don't have to wait for a bus to be filled-up before leaving the airport for the cruise port). (verified November 2010)

If you are coming in from Miami International Airport, you may want to consider a shuttle to the cruise port for $76.90. For more information, check Miami Airport shuttles and information.

What other departure ports and cruise lines are alternatives to Royal Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale?

Common alternative cruise ports to Fort Lauderdale include Miami, Port Canaveral, Tampa, New York, Galveston and New Orleans.

Additionally, check out other cruise lines who may have departures from Fort Lauderdale, including, Holland America Line, Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Cunard Line, Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruises.

Money Saving Advice when Buying a Royal Caribbean Cruise

  • Best advice we can give: the earlier you book, the better. Prices for early bookers tend to be lower, and, the best cabins on Royal Caribbean ships book first.
  • We show all discounts. When you search for cruises on our site, we will ask questions that will qualify you for the best available rate – are you over 55, active or retired military, past passenger (Crown & Anchor Society) with Royal Caribbean, etc.
  • If you are flying to your cruise departure port, buy your air separately from your cruise. You will almost certainly find a better deal versus buying your air ticket with your cruise.
  • Never pay a service fee to book a cruise. There are web sites who will charge $24.99 to book a cruise with them. We can book you the same cruise for the same price, and, we do not charge service fees.
